Boys and girls at least 10 years old and in 5th grade or above who would like to be Altar Servers, for
either the English or Spanish Masses, need to attend two (out of three) training sessions this fall. A parent should plan to
attend these sessions with their child. The session will last about an hour. If you have any questions, please call Cristina
at the parish office (703-368-4500) or email Lynn Pechiney, the coordinator (firstname.lastname@example.org).
- For those servers who are in the 9th grade, there will be training for you to act as a cross-bearer and book-bearer. See below for the date.
- For those already experienced-level servers (grades 10-12), there are two options:Come to a training session to review procedures and learn of any new changes.
Or, some pre-selected experienced servers will assist with training new cross-bearer/book-bearers and help to demonstrate how this function is performed. (Please contact Mrs. Pechiney if you are interested in doing this.)
Boys and girls who are already Altar Servers for the English or Spanish Masses need to attend one of the sessions offered for returning servers in order to remain active. Parents of servers younger than age 13 are asked to remain in the church during the session, which will last about a half hour.
What to Expect:
Servers can expect to serve one weekend Mass per month. Mass assignments are based upon each server’s stated preference. We are in need of servers who would be available for daily Masses as well. Service at daily Mass would be more frequent.
